how old was Timothy
by road to nowhere inused to be the wt said timothy was maybe 30 and still considered young.
this last study has him a snot nosed (my take) teenager, who is moving up.
the actual bible account only tells him being raised as a believer.

Used to be the WT said Timothy was maybe 30 and still considered young. This last study has him a snot nosed (my take) teenager, who is moving up. The actual Bible account only tells him being raised as a believer. None of the drama stuff about having a materialistic father (if he was even around), skipping "college", having worldly friends trying to influence him.
My own opinion is he was in his 30's, that is how long it takes to get a handle on life. But never let facts get in the way of an argument.

What do you think?
by JRK inif a decades-long apostate decides that they should marry a semi-active jw, what odds would you put on the viability of the marriage?
if not viable, how long before the shit would hit the fan?
jk.

despite all the hype, marriages are made or broken on similar backgrounds and common goals, not the 10 hours and spending vacation at conventions. A semi in witness would probably be OK with missing meetings, and compromising on holidays (just don't get too blatant).
Can the two make a decent life in things like housing, family, recreation, common goals?

you heard wrong. I remember this: "You (us) are to be commended for your charity and generosity". I thought of doing things for sick ones and such. Wrong. Then: "Your contributions have kept up for the slave". You know Christ's brothers, the least of them (big 8) in particular

Gerrit Lösch gives a special talk the Norval Assembly Hall in Georgetown Canada

that survey didn't even mention that lots of people want education to further the good of all mankind. Doctors, nurses, come to mind.
The elders who do more for the flock usually have enough money to not work 2 jobs, and smarts to figure problems out.

Wt video this week big problem.
by poopie inproblem with this week's video on counsel.
why did they emphasize the counsel and not the fact that those who were watching movie should have followed christ counsel at mathew 5 go to your brother instead they ratted on the guy to an elder and let him do dirty work.wow just totally ignore jesus words..

don't forget this is "from Jehovah". A poorly handled matter done wrong concerning a conscience matter with guidlines that you can't follow easily. Movie ratings change from country to country, and content may offend one and not another.
Della is right: don't tell or share

Help me with the disfellowshipping topic, how is it NOT scriptural
by LevelThePlayingField inmany have said that jesus never shunned anyone.
yet it seems that the apostle paul said to shun an unrepentant sinner, "stop keeping company" and "not even eating with such a man" 1co 5:9-12. it seems like shunning is what paul wanted us to do.
but honestly, it doesn't seem right to me.

There was no one year rule, the man in Corinth was out for a couple months apparently. Some things are appalling to even the world. The whole congregation knew the what and why so could judge for themselves on fairness. There was no command for families to engage in "necessary business" only. There was probably a double standard on popularity and who you knew or were related to (elders kids?) but it couldn't have been any worse than nowadays. There were no perpetual records kept in some central oversight group. There was no enforcer who visited regularly to keep things up.

You Know You're Starting To Wake Up When...
by pale.emperor inyou start listening to music deemed "unsuitable for christians".
you pretend to knock on the doors.
you explain a jw teaching to someone and realize how ridiculous it sounds.
-
road to nowhere
when you explain beliefs, you find you can't., not even considering how silly it sounds. things like the generations, or 607 as a starting point when you can't even come close to explaining how 607 is right

Just looked at the convention program. What weird artwork. And the odd voices on the bible reading "GEE-HOOOE_VAAH". Makes cartoons seem normal. Any normal person should be embarrassed.
